Album Statement

This album is an autobiographical beat tape, a sonic self-portrait. Each track attempts to capture the feeling of the word associated with its title, and each title represents an aspect of myself in 3 dimensions (spiritual, communal, and personal). As a primarily visual artist, this album is akin to a sketchbook. To capture the essence of the early 90's beat tapes that I grew up listening to, I focused on digging for samples to loop/chop and obscure drum breaks. I arrived at this finished product through months of combining the right breaks with the right loops, chopping and triggering samples, layering samples, pitching and time-stretching, adding effects, and multiple sessions of mixing and sequencing.
